Paula Deen’s latest cookbook, Paula Deen Cuts the Fat: 250 Favorite Recipes All Lightened Up, is on sale today. This move comes one week after her former chef, Dora Charles, released her own cookbook.
The news that the former Food Network star would release a healthy recipe cookbook came out back in March. Deen also recently announced that she will be on this season of Dancing with the Stars, so it does seem like she is embracing a healthier lifestyle, though she’s known to love butter.
“It is not about dieting — it’s about living a healthier life. You can enjoy everything in moderation. It’s amazing how little changes can give you big results,” Paula Deen said in a press release. “You don’t have to lose any of the delicious tastes and flavors that we all love! This book will help you achieve your goals.”
Some of her recipes include a peach cobbler using a quarter of the butter she used in her original recipe; pimiento cheese with Greek yogurt as a substitute for mayonnaise; and cheesy mac with low-fat cream cheese instead of sour cream and four tablespoons of butter. Deen even has a kale Caesar salad in the new book.
Now let’s hope the Southern belle can cut the fat from her social media antics.
