Man Named Burger Proposes To Woman Named King; Plans Burger King-Themed Wedding

His name was Burger. Her name was King. It was their "sestame" to be together. Joel Burger, 24, of Illinois, just proposed to his girlfriend of five years, Ashley King, 23. Rather than having any beef with their iconic combined surnames, the couple is rolling with it. They will be having a Whopper of a themed wedding, and have already taken engagement photos in front of their local Burger King, according to The State Journal Register.

Although it is traditional for the woman's name to come first in the wedding announcement, in this case, the couple felt that Burger's name should precede King's, for obvious reasons. At their upcoming nuptials, they want to hand out drink cozies emblazoned with the Burger King logo as wedding favors, although they will definitely need Burger King's approval for that for copyright purposes.

Beyond their fast food nomenclature, the couple's courtship is pretty sweet. Burger and King have known each other since kindergarten, and even went to prom together.

"We have yet to escape the teasing," King told The State Journal Register, "but we have fully embraced our nickname."
