Trader Joe's New Mac & Cheese Will Satisfy All Your Cheesy, Spicy Cravings

Frozen mac & cheese just got a lot hotter. Trader Joe's has introduced Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese, marrying creamy, cheesy macaroni and cheese with the smoky heat of Hatch chiles grown in Hatch Valley, New Mexico.

In a release, the grocery chain writes, "[T]he terroir (or total natural environs) of southwestern New Mexico is what makes Hatch Chiles so special. When roasted with care, they are earthy, sweet, and spicy (ranging from mild to medium heat) with an alluring smokiness."

The product features semolina elbow macaroni coated in a cheese sauce made from aged Cheddar, milk, and butter. Roasted and chopped Hatch Chiles are then added "for a welcoming, smoky-heat." It can be heated in the microwave or in a conventional oven. Trader Joe's recommends serving the macaroni and cheese aside its Pork Rib Bites or any of its other barbecued, pulled meats.

The 12-ounce, two serving box is available for $2.99 at Trader Joe's.
