Is Sbarro Getting Ready For A Mighty Comeback?

You probably remember Sbarro pizza as the quintessential mall slice of the '90s, but the brand is out to prove they're much more than a quick stop on the way to Abercrombie & Fitch.Last year, Sbarro filed for Chapter 11, but quickly pulled themselves out of it after only a month of bankruptcy. Now, they're back in town, and they may soon come to your town.

Sbarro is planning an expansion and total brand makeover, beginning with their first-ever standalone restaurant. The first Sbarro not in a larger venue will open in Columbus, Ohio, this October, with seating and takeout services available.

"This move represents a real progression of the brand and a glimpse into the Sbarro of the future," said J. David Karam, CEO of the chain. "We've listened to our customers and are excited to take our concept out of the food court setting and into their neighborhoods. It will now be easier than ever to give guests the opportunity to enjoy the Sbarro pizza they know and love in the comfort of their own home."
