Obese Chef Dropped Nearly 300 Pounds After His Friend Sent Him Mean Texts Every Day For Six Weeks

Jamie Brooks, a chef in Somerset, England who weighed a dangerous 36 stone (504 pounds) at his heaviest, was able to drop 21 stone (294 pounds) thanks to some clever and tough love from a close friend, who sent the chef mean texts every day for six weeks, according to Metro.

Brooks' friend, a salesman named Neil Williamson, was reportedly "desperate" to help his friend lose weight, and decided that he needed to be cruel to be kind. Every day for six straight weeks, Williamson texted Brooks that he was a "fat f***" and reminders like "You'll be dead by the time you're 40."

Thanks to his friend's intervention, Brooks finally got motivated to lose weight, and has since dropped nearly 300 pounds.

"It took the full six weeks to motivate me to do something but I'm so glad I did," Brooks told Metro. "Neil has saved my life, I can't thank him enough."
