Malia Obama Summers In Manhattan, Dines At La Esquina With Former White House Chef Sam Kass

Malia Obama, the 17-year-old daughter of President Obama who is pretty much universally agreed upon to be having a much cooler adolescence than the rest of us did, is spending the summer in New York City, and she's eating well.

The reigning first daughter, who is currently interning on HBO's Girls, was most recently spotted at Mexican staple La Esquina with a group of friends that included Sam Kass, the former White House chef who left his post last year to live in New York City with his wife, MSNBC host Alex Wagner.

According to Page Six, Malia even got a special gift from La Esquina owner Derek Sanders: a vintage "Obama 2012" shirt created by Sanders and his wife in 2010.

Malia was also spotted this month having lunch at Bleecker Kitchen & Co., where she and her friends were "all checking out Instagram and talking about clothes and chatting away like typical teenagers," as well as enjoying a father-daughter brunch at chef Justin Smillie's Upland with her dad, the President, and her younger sister, Sasha.
