Here's A Sneak Peek At Mario Batali And Joe Bastianich's Upcoming Restaurant

Get ready: There's a new Batali/Bastianich restaurant in the works. La Sirena is an Italian-American eatery opening in Chelsea's Maritime Hotel in New York on Thursday that will focus on "bringing deliciousness back to dining."Expect hearty and familiar dishes like grilled calamari, spicy octopus pasta, and meat options like a braised beef short rib and sautéed duck breast and an atmosphere that's "less casual than Babbo."

Joe Bastianich indirectly scoffed at the newest trends in molecular gastronomic dining, telling Eater that, "There's a lot of fine dining that is very technical. This is fine dining, but it's also delicious in the lustiness and the simple deliciousness of the food... something that really makes people want to eat more. Satisfying and delicious and provocative and soulful."

The bar will be the restaurant's centerpiece, both physically (it's 38 feet long), and menu-wise (La Sirena will have the pair's largest cocktail program yet). The dining scene in the restaurant is large and seats about 100, but is meant to be quieter and "sophisticated" with an expansive outdoor space for warmer months, according to Eater.

Bastianich and Batali have been teasing glimpses of Sirena on their Instagrams. Take a look at the space here:
