Chipotle Is Testing Out A New Beer And Cocktail Menu

Between offering free food and investing in a burger concept, the disgraced, former fast-casual darling Chipotle appears to be throwing darts at the wall of restaurant profitability and hoping something will stick.

The latest update from the burrito chain is a new beer and cocktail menu that includes frozen margaritas and sangria, as well as bottled and on-tap beers. Chipotle already offers margaritas made with Patron and bottled beers at a number of its locations, but this test would expand the chain's alcohol program.

The guinea pig Chipotle is rumored to be located in Denver, near the fast-casual chain's headquarters, according to Westword, a blog based out of Colorado's capital.

The new menu will feature a mescal margarita and a California-made sangria called Eppa Sangria that will arrive to the shop premade in large kegs. The new on-tap beer addition will be a draft version of the Oskar Blues Beerito, a craft Vienna Mexican lager.

For the under-21 crowd, Chipotle will offer watermelon agua fresca, a hibiscus tea, and a new sustainable iced tea, as well. There will also be a few craft fountain sodas available for purchase.
