Let people take their selfies in peace.

A man described to be between the ages of 45 and 50, with long blond hair and brown eyes, threw milk at two women who he believed to be taking his picture, the NYPD said. The women were actually taking photos of themselves.

A 22-year-old woman was taking pictures of herself and her friend as they sat on the bench of an A train platform out of 14th street when suddenly, the man reportedly began to swear at them. He yelled “stop taking pictures of me,” and then threw his milk at them.

Police who responded to the incident searched the area, but could not find the man.

At the very least, we hope he stuck around long enough to find out that he wasn’t the subject of their fascination after all, and that he feels appropriately humbled and embarrassed. And he should note that many other people would have by doing a lot more than just calling the police.
