Foursquare Tips

  • The 280 steps on the park's northeast side make up the longest public staircase in the city. Time your ascent from the base to the drinking fountain at the top!
  • See Mt Hood from a bench on the east side of the running track.
  • Come on up to the top and watch the fireworks on the 4th of July or watch the sunset and see all the way down the Hawthorne strip. This park has everything for the whole family to do.
  • Its actually an extinct volcano, so go sleep up there all you want!
  • I love going to the top with a blanket, walk a little ways down the hill, and looking over the city skyline with my lady and a bottle of wine! Another favorite spot is above the basket ball courts you
  • Did you know? Mt. Tabor is the only volcano within a major city in the United States. Its an example of a cinder cone volcano.
  • Every Wednesday evening the park is closed to cars. Great night for a run or bike.
  • Hiking! Volcanoes! Trees! Reservoirs! Awesome place to hike and explore without leaving the city!
  • Chillax and listen to kick ass music with friends!
  • The best sunrise view is not from the top, but from the lower road on the east side.
  • Beautiful park. It is a great place to workout and feel like your getting away from the city.
  • You wont find a more inspiring destination to begin a Portland adventure than Mount Tabor Park. Hike or bike to the summit for a stunning view of the city.
  • Best green space for running in the city.
  • Adult Soapbox Derby [http://www.soapboxracer.com/] (August)
