Michael Symon Plans Burger Restaurant For Indianapolis

The Indianapolis dining scene is getting a bit of good news this week, because celebrity chef Michael Symon has chosen that city for a new outpost of his burger restaurant, B Spot.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the James Beard Award-winning chef and co-host of ABC's The Chew will be opening the Indiana location of B Spot Burgers in June. It will be located in a retail and residential complex called Ironworks at Keystone. B Spot Burgers currently has seven locations in Cleveland, Columbus, and Detroit, and this will be Symon's first restaurant in Indiana.

B Spot specializes in oversized burgers with toppings that are so big they're practically whole other sandwiches. The "Fat Doug" burger, for example, is topped with coleslaw, stadium mustard, Swiss cheese, and a big helping of pastrami. The "Porky" burger is topped with pulled pork, making it practically a hamburger with a pulled pork sandwich on top. Sides include fries, onion rings, and pork cracklings, and the restaurant's menu specifies that all fried items are fried in lard.

B Spot burgers took the Best Burger in America prize at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival's annual Burger Bash in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014.
