Many mornings are often a battle between having enough time and having breakfast. But Melissa d'Arabian, the host of Cooking Channel’s Drop 5 Lbs with Good Housekeeping, has an easy solution that is both quick and delicious. Her Green Flax Morning Smoothie has enough sweetness from fruit, while also packing a lot of healthy elements like vegetables and flaxseeds. With only a few steps to the whole recipe, you can have a healthy morning while running out the door!

Green Flax Morning Smoothie

1 ½ cups unsweetened vanilla almond, coconut, or soy milk
¼ cup flaxseed
1 frozen banana
1 cup fresh or frozen peach or mango cubes
1 tablespoon honey or pure maple syrup (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup ice cubes
1/2 cup washed baby spinach, loosely packed
2 green cabbage leaves, chopped (optional)
 

Place almond milk, flaxseed, and banana in blender. Blend for 15 seconds on high. Add fruit, ice, spinach leaves, and cabbage (if using). Blend for 45 seconds, or until very smooth.
 
Yield: 2 large or 3 small smoothies
Prep time: 3 minutes
