Foursquare Tips

  • Colorful varieties of flavors and colors of shaved ice, hurry to finish before it melts, the portions are huge. -Heather Hurlbert, Top Chef Just Desserts
  • Get a Large with ice cream and beans, and make sure to get a holder. To get the full expierence add the condensed milk to the top....yummy!
  • Syrup poured over shaved ice is the house specialty. Try the Hawaiian a tropical mix of pineapple, coconut and banana. Just like a Snow Cone, but better.
  • There's usually a line out the door at this North Shore institution for its shave ice, the local version of a snow cone.
  • they're good...but overrated and lines too long. kids working there are sassy. nothing better than waiting inn a long hot dusty line to be greeted by a sassy kid taking ur money...
  • For those who don't know, shave ice is a much finer shave than the traditional sno-cone you get in the mainland. Recommend it served over ice cream. Vanilla mixes well with a lot of flavors!
  • Da best on the north shore!! =)
  • Line is long, but they've got it down, goes by so fast! GET A CONE thingy. It will fall apart on you!
  • There was no line at 10:30 am. Shortly after that the little tourist company vans started dropping off their groups.
  • If you like cats, go there late afternoon or evening. Tens of cats are there for dinner at the back of the store.
  • No tiger's blood flavor?! Shame...
  • Try the pickled mango and sour Li hing Mui ... A little tart yet sweet at the same time
  • Make sure you get it with ice cream and condensed milk. Thank me later.
  • Lines move quickly, dont be scared off! And invest in the holder if you can, its messy!
  • Aloha general store down the street is much better with less tourists!
  • Don't wait till late! They close at 6pm. Otherwise try anything. =)
  • I like frozen water.
  • OMG Amazing shaved ice!!!
  • Get your shave ice here... The other places are not as good.
  • it's kind of a tradition. the line is usually super long. it's kind of a staple in haleiwa. so many tourists nowdays.
