Adam Platt loves the roasted marrow bones and braised goat at Top Chef Harold's inventive new Thai spot.
Top Chef Harolds new spot takes Thai flavors and marries them with hefty Western ingredients like Maine lobster and lobes of fatty bone marrow. Featured in Where to Eat 2011!
Dont stare at the celebrity chef. Get started. Have a pickled martini and a squid-ink soup, fiery and rich. It tastes of brisket and joy.

Second restaurant of Top Chef star Harold Dieterle, try the Spicy Duck Laab, Warm Sliced Snap Peas with Bay Scallops, Rabbit Leg Yellow Curry, and Goat Massaman Curry
Dieterle has a knack for fusing Thai cuisine with his own New-American style, and the result is one of the most unique menus in New York right now. [Eater 38 Member]
Casual restaurant featuring salads, noodles, homemade curries and larger entreesand don't expect the Thai-standard "chicken, beef, mock duck" proteins. Thick wonton noodles w/ oyster sauce a hit.
For whites, we rec two off-beat but impressive wines: Blaterle, Nussehof (rare blaterle grape offers soft fruit, with a saline edge); Malvasia, Bernejo (this malvasia offers bigger, more exotic fruit)
Duck laab, squid ink sesame oil soup, or bay scallops w crisp shallots & toasted coconut. You can't go wrong w any fish or duck entree. Ask for it spicy & try to snag a seat by the open kitchen
Order the red curry duck. Apply a piece of duck to your roti - drizzle on sauce. Voila! Red curry duck "tacos." Delicious.
Winner of Best Use of Duck in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! Duck laab is flash of ground duck and chile heat, cooled by the lettuce it's contained in.
The duck laab salad skates that thin line between insanely hot and divinely delicious.

The Bone Marrow is fantastic! Red:Duck is excellent. Definitely coming back again and again. YUM!
Grub St: "Bell & Evans birds in ginger, garlic, lemongrass, oyster sauce, and Thai shrimp paste for 24 hrs. Dredged in rice flour and an Asian cereal and deep-fried, with herbs, fish-chili sauce."
Definitely get the brussels sprouts. Probably the best I've ever had.
One of the tastiest new openings in a while! Get the snap pea and scallop app, the fried pork and oyster app, and the "red" roasted duck noodles. Dance party in your mouth!

One of the best bone marrow dishes in town. And you'd be silly not to try the goat.
