Pumpkin pie spices and hot, delicious coffee? Yes, please.

There isn't any actual pumpkin the traditional pumpkin spice latte, but there are tons of pumpkin pie spices. This year, Starbucks is finally adding real pumpkin! In order to get all of those delicious, autumnal flavors into your coffee, your first have to make a pumpkin spice simple syrup. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine 2 cups of water with 1 tablespoon shaved nutmeg

3 cinnamon sticks

½ inch of sliced fresh ginger

1 teaspoon cloves

and a cup of sugar

Bring the  mixture to a boil, then immediately turn down the heat and allow the blend to simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the mixture through a coffee filter.

Next, make an espresso (or hot coffee if you don’t have an espresso machine).

Add 2 ounces of the syrup, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract, and steamed milk. Enjoy!
