Homemade Hostess Gifts

Think beyond the bottle when bringing a gift to your next dinner party.

The trouble with bringing wine to a dinner party is that more and more people are becoming wine savvy, leaving that last minute bottle you picked up on the way to the party pushed to the back of the pantry—not to mention that your host has most likely spent a few hours pairing food and wine to ensure a good meal is had by all, too. The only way to win with bringing a bottle of wine to a party is if your host has suggested a bottle for you to bring, or you know what their favorite is.

This year, I will be avoiding the bottle and opting for a more unique hostess gift designed with the host in mind. The holiday season brings out the culinary master hiding within us for the other 10 months of the year, and for that reason, I will be arriving with aromatic sugars perfect for lazy brunches, homemade pies and festive drinks.
