Is The Hedonistic Lamborghini Egoista The Helicopter/Car Mashup You've Been Waiting For?
Lamborghini had a blast celebrating their 50th anniversary last year, which culminated with this Egoista concept sports car. Based on the Gallardo and designed by Walter De Silva, it certainly has a really cool look, but to be honest, we can't really say we love it.
"I am very attached to this Italian brand, being an Italian myself," says De Silva. "I wanted to pay homage to and think up a vehicle to underline the fact that Lamborghinis have always been made with passion, and with the heart more than the head."

Made for a single person to drive, the Egoista is meant to express personality and vibrancy, intended for "hyper-sophisticated people who want only the most extreme and special things in the world." The hedonistic automobile fits its name perfectly, which roughly translates as "selfish," and packs a 5.2-liter V10 engine delivering 600hp.
From the outside, the luxury car's nose has lines that mimic that of a bull lowering its head, primed to attack. Paint it black and it looks like something Batman would be driving. As overpowering as the exterior is, that's not really where we take issue — it's the interior.
Once the roof is lifted, you're assaulted greeted by bright orange leather that looks like it belongs in a Hot Wheels toy or like it was actually constructed from Legos. Inspired by the Apache helicopter, the cockpit (which is made using carbon fiber and aluminum) can actually be ejected from the car in a state of emergency, which is pretty cool. You may actually choose being ejected from the car rather than undertake the complicated process of getting out normally.
"To get out of the vehicle, the driver must remove the steering wheel and rest it on the dashboard, open the dome with an electronic command, stand up in their seat, sit down on a precise point of the left-hand bodywork, then swivel their legs 180 degrees from the inside of the cockpit to the outside of the vehicle. At this point they can set their feet down and stand up. Even in getting out of the vehicle, the Lamborghini Egoista requires a pilot more than a driver, a real top gun."
With so much packed into one look, from a helicopter to a raging bull, Lamborghini definitely didn't limit themselves, but considering it was a birthday present to itself, maybe it's OK that it looks like a transformer. Besides, just because we don't want one for ourselves doesn't mean we wouldn't jump at the chance to test one out.
