After a $60 million, top-to-bottom makeover, the pedigreed Upper East Side hotel reopened in late 2009 with a sleek new look — out went the floral curtains, in came the William Kentridge video installation, along with the city’s most posh room service from the Café Boulud kitchen below. Guests staying at one of the 190 “salons” and suites can order either off the specials menu, which includes a selection of chef de cuisine Gavin Kaysen’s exquisite Café dishes like hamachi with edamame and pickled radishes, or from the more casual in-room dining menu. Literal translation: Short rib sliders in the comfort of a Duxiana bed.
