Gyro Fries

Gyro Fries
5 from 1 ratings
The combination of flavorful lamb meat, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini, and maybe a few olives if you’re in the mood, cannot be beat. Wrapped in a pita, it’s the ultimate cheers to Greece. Next time you’re craving the sandwich, though, skip the pita and try tossing those combinations with fries, instead. Ingredients
  • 1 cup ground lamb
  • 1 tablespoon diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • pinch of dried oregano
  • pinch of dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup gyro meat
  • 1 1/2 cup frozen fries, baked or deep-fried
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced romaine lettuce
  • 1 tablespoon diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon sliced pepperoncini
  • 1 teaspoon sliced olives
  • tzatziki sauce, as needed
Directions
  1. Combine all of the ingredients together in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let sit for at least 2 hours to let the flavors blend together.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet to medium-high. Add the meat mixture and sauté, breaking it up with your spoon as you go, until the meat is cooked through. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, toss the gyro meat and the fries together. Add the gyro-fry mixture to a fry boat or shallow boat and top with the romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pepperoncini, and olives. Finish with the desired amount of tzatziki sauce.
