Fort Worth, TX (RestaurantNews.com) For its latest limited time offer (LTO), Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is leveraging the popularity of its Jumbo Burrito, but with a lower-carb spin: The Fuzzy’s Burrito Bowl, available at all 100 locations nationwide through September 11, 2016.
The Fuzzy’s Burrito Bowl is a big burrito bowl of tortilla-less Tex-Mex goodness, offering a new take on an old favorite. The bowl is loaded with rice, beans, and with the guest’s choice of fajita-style chicken, beef, or veggies, then topped with guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, cilantro, and shredded cheese, and drizzled with sauce (house-made spicy chimichurri* or fire-roasted salsa). Most can be purchased for $6.99 – $7.99, pricing may vary based on location and customization.
“For several years we’ve had diners requesting burrito bowls as a tortilla-free alternative to our Jumbo Burritos,” Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Executive Vice President Mel Knight noted. “Its first week of sales are proving that a healthy modification to one of our best-selling menu items was a good choice for this quarter’s LTO.”
Jumbo Burritos have been on Fuzzy’s Taco Shop’s menu since its beginning, and have always been big sellers, ranging in price from $6.99 – $8.49, with choices including Shredded Chicken, Shredded Brisket, Spicy Pork, Grilled Veggie, Grilled Shrimp, Special Ground Beef and Fajita Chicken or Beef. All are stuffed with guacamole, shredded cheese, tomatoes, onions, Fuzzy’s proprietary garlic sauce, and choice of rice or beans.
* Fuzzy’s house-made chimichurri sauce is a delicious, Latin-American marinade made with our secret combination of fresh cilantro, parsley, jalapeño, garlic, and spices.
About Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
Fort Worth, Texas-based Fuzzy’s Taco Shop®, the award-winning, Baja-style, fast-casual Mexican restaurant group, now has 100 locations in 11 states. Since its beginnings in Fort Worth in 2001, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has become well known for its casual, fun atmosphere, uniquely flavorful Baja-style Mexican fare, and all-day breakfast. Fuzzy’s menu features its original take on the fish taco, which is often referred to as “addictive” thanks to the garlic sauce and feta cheese that make it so distinctive. Fuzzy’s inexpensive menu, dog-friendly patios, and full liquor bars serving a large selection of draft and craft beers, signature frozen cocktails, and several different flavors of margaritas, make it popular with young and old alike. Brightly painted walls, red booths, galvanized metal accents and the mascot “Eat Me” fish create a festive atmosphere that is all a part of the Fuzzy’s experience. Diners can earn discounts and free menu items via the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop “Friends with Benefits” loyalty app, available for download on Google Play or iTunes.
Due to popular demand, Fuzzy’s started offering franchises in 2009. Initially, most of the Company’s growth was in Texas, but with the help of its growing franchisee base, the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop concept has proven to be successful in other key markets such as Colorado, Florida, and Oklahoma, and is rapidly expanding into other states. That success and growth is what attracted the NRD Fund, a private equity fund, to indirectly acquire a majority interest in Fuzzy’s Taco Shop earlier this year. Last month, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop was named one of “2016’s 10 Best Franchise Deals” by QSR Magazine and Franchise Business Review.
