Foursquare Tips

  • PHOTO: Opened on May 1st, 1931, the Empire State Building turns 80 this year! Visit our iconic photo gallery, at the link, for amazing images of the building's history!
  • Here on the observation deck of the Empire State building, Meg Ryan meets Tom Hanks for the first time after being setup by his son on a call-in radio show in 1993's "Sleepless in Seattle."
  • Take the trip to the top! The view is spectacular - see it for yourself!
  • Dont jump
  • Get your tickets online. Get EXPRESS! They treat you like a celebrity, worth it!
  • Le meilleur point de vue pour profiter de la vue sur Manhattan, Queens et Brooklyn, ainsi que le New Jersey. Admirez aussi les taxis dans les rues. ;)
  • great view! you should visit right before the sunset.. see the colors in the sky an the city lights turning on! keep in mind that it is extremely cold and windy up there, but the view is magical!
  • The 86th floor observatory, 1,050 feet (320 meters) off the ground, has both a glass-enclosed area which is heated in winter and cooled in summer.
  • Citypass = no lines. However, this place is worse in comparison to 30 rock. No sitting places, restrooms, on top. All views are obstructed by fence. In 30 rock this is reinforced glass.
  • Express pass was not useful when I came at 1 pm pm on Veteran's Day. Never went to floor 102. I wish I knew I could before I bought tickets to 86. I'll be back, but at night.
  • If you get a City Pass, go to another site first! You lose any City Pass benefits of skipping the line if you don't already have your booklet.
  • Don't fall for the ticket offers outside! Also, avoid the waits by going at night. Go around dinnertime, or around 9pm before people get out of the theaters. Added bonus: Lights are spectacular!
  • Where are you King Kong?
  • Top of the Rock offers a great view of Central Park & the Empire State Building. Cheaper too!
  • Skytrip not really worth the extra $
  • Awesome place !!
  • Don't come here during the day - go to Top of the Rock instead. But DO come here around midnight. No line and you get to see all of the lights of the city.
  • Did you know? The Empire State Building Run-Up is an annual race up the stairs to the 86th floor (1,576 steps).
  • Did you know? The static electricity is so strong on the top of the building that people on the observatory floor can see sparks when they kiss.
