Dunkin' Donuts Releases Mobile Payment App

Starbucks isn't the only coffee chain to get its own mobile payment app. Hot on the heels of last week's Square and Starbucks' announcement to join together, Dunkin' Donuts released an app for iOS and Android phones.

Much like the Starbucks app, the Dunkin' Donuts free app will pay for your cup of coffee with a prepaid Dunkin' gift card, debit card, or credit card, reports Fierce Mobile Content. Other features of the app include store locators, access to Dunkin' Donuts' social media channels, plus nutritional information on drinks. (We'd sure put down the Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee if we had the nutritional facts in our hand.) You can even send prepaid, virtual Dunkin' Donuts gift cards to a friend.

"Today's launch of the new Dunkin' Mobile App is an exciting and important day for both Dunkin' Donuts' guests and our franchisees," said Nigel Travis, Dunkin' Brands CEO and Dunkin' Donuts president, in a release. "This is a clear example of our determination to invest in technologies that help us exceed our guests' expectations and enable our franchisees to run their restaurants as efficiently and effectively as possible."
