Wine Picker App Wants To Be Your Mobile Sommelier

Ever been stumped deciding the best bottle from an intimidating wine list? You might find a hero in Wine Picker, a soon-to-be-released app created by London-based Frenchmen Julien Sahut and Josselin Guibert.

The Wine Picker app allows diners to select their preferred wine color, set their wine bottle budget, and the app will recommend the five best choices from the restaurant's wine list. The app also assists with food pairings and features profiles where users can share personal tasting notes in-app and to social networks.

"We know that choosing wine in a restaurant can be quite a challenge when there is no seasoned sommelier to come to your rescue," says co-founder and distinguished sommelier Julien Sahut, who's worked at tip-top spots including London's China Tang at The Dorchester and the two-Michelin-starred Hibiscus.

Set to launch early 2016, the app will first serve the U.K. and U.S. market before future expansion. "We have developed a complete solution that will put the best-value wines in the UK and US just a few swipes away," says co-founder Josselin Guibert, who comes from a finance background.

The spirit-savvy entrepreneurs recently wrapped up a 30-day Kickstarter campaign, which included perks such as free-for-life app access and a three-Michelin-starred dinner with the Wine Picker founders in London.
