Watch: Drunk Monkey Threatens Bar Patrons With A Knife

A bar in Paraíba, Brazil, was briefly under siege by a knife-wielding monkey who came inside, drank a full glass of rum, and brandished the blade at patrons.

"It was a bar staff oversight that ended with the monkey drinking some rum and taking the knife," fire chief Saul Laurentino told local media.

According to one local news blog, the monkey, a capuchin, "lived near [the] bar and was known by local employees." Inside, the monkey began threatening some of the male patrons, but left the women alone. "It appears to be a tame monkey... but after the knife he wanted no man around. When men came close... there was risk of someone being injured."

It's not quite clear whether the monkey was then guided outside or left of its own accord, but he then managed to climb onto the roof of the bar, knife in hand.

Luckily for all involved, no injuries were reported, and the monkey was eventually captured and brought to the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.
