San Francisco's St. Regis Introduces An Afternoon Tea Service

Take a break from boozy brunches and indulge in high tea at The St. Regis San Francisco. Guests can enjoy the hotel's posh tea service, The Art of Tea, in the hotel lobby lounge.

A lot of backstory: the Duchess of Bedford, Anna Russell, created the afternoon tea in England back in the early 1800s as a small meal between lunch and a late dinner. In the latter part of the 19th century, the tradition would be adopted by Caroline Astor, New York's grand dame, to entertain her closest friends and New York City's social elite.

The St. Regis San Francisco introduces a modern and innovative interpretation of this ritual with local products and teas from around the world.

Its menu offerings include a wide variety of sweet and savory morsels to satisfy all cravings. Some savory options include: poached egg with a smoked salmon-wrapped grissini, duck confit quiche with spring peas, Italian speck, and micro greens; and artichoke and gouger with Laura Chenel goat cheese, and basil.

Those with a sweet tooth out there (myself included), dive into passionfruit and white chocolate mousse with dacquoise and meringue, rhubarb crumble tartlet with strawberry cream and goji berry granola.

From the classic organic English breakfast to licorice spice to cherry blossom green tea, and the renowned St. Regis Blend, there is no shortage of tea here with its assortment of black tea and herbal tea varieties. Whether you like flowery notes, mildly grassy, or natural sweet or pungent, every tea option embodies its own personality, sure to please each person's preference and mood.

'The Art of Tea' is a bit of a misnomer as the event's not limited to the brewed beverage. Bubbly is available for those looking to change up the boozy brunch style for enhanced experience with the Art of Bubbles include Veuve Clicquot, Laurent Perrier, and Schramsberg.

The St. Regis values this tradition and welcomes to you experience this modern, innovative, and timeless interoperation of Anna's legacy with locally sourced fare and teas from all around the world.

Next time you're about to make reservations for brunch, keep St. Regis in mind!
