Foursquare Tips

  • Known as a "bartender's bartender" for his efficient preparation and friendly demeanor, Jeremy Olivier leads the cocktail program at this restaurant that become an essential part of the Heights scene.
  • Service is slow and inattentive. Food wasn't that great either. Go to Yale Street Grill instead.
  • Watch out for all the skinny jeans.
  • Food is great but service is not.
  • Down House's hybrid system can make service confusing. Seating is open, and no matter where you sit the bar, the couches or the more traditional tables there's a server to wait on you.
  • Free WiFi and plenty of power outlets
  • Vanilla latte is amazing!
  • if you sit at the bar: never hint that margaritas are girly (as opposed to drinking tequila straight)!
  • Hmmm... They offer beer pairings with every dish. Try the pork belly banh mi, grilled lemon chicken sandwich with olive tapanade or the fish tacos with sauteed cabbage and carrots. Can be pricey.
  • French press coffee is bottomless
  • 2 words... Queen Bee!
  • This beautifully refurbished bank in the Heights is a truly inviting place to linger over cocktails or coffee, which are available at nearly any hour of the day.
  • What is the point of opening for breakfast at nine? Way too late. Boo.
  • Highly recommend their Sunday Brunch... Their Chicken & Waffle was off this world..
  • Queen Bee and a Cheese Plate. Nuff Said.
  • Half price wines by the bottle on Mondays.
  • I would go lesbian for the shrimp and grits here.
  • Bloody Mary is delicious!! Best one I've had in months.
  • Food is so so and pricy, but arguably the best coffee in houston, and delicious cocktails.
  • Kitchen is open 19 hours a day. Wow, gotta LOVE this place.
