Crumbs Bake Shop Teams Up With Chef David Burke

Last Thursday, Chef David Burke and Crumbs Bake Shop celebrated their recent partnership at the David Burke Treehouse Bar at The James Hotel in SoHo.

Select Crumbs bakeries in New York City and the greater metropolitan area will begin carrying a line of fresh gourmet sandwiches and salads created by Burke by the end of June. Crumbs, the famous cupcake shop that began in the Upper West Side in 2003 and has since grown to locations in 13 states, chose Burke as the chef to expand their menu due to his impressive resume. The entrepreneur has won a multitude of culinary awards and owns a series of restaurants from New York to Connecticut to Chicago and is known for his innovative take on American cuisine.

Guests at the launch party sipped on cocktails at Burke's bar while sampling the variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads that will soon arrive at Crumbs. The innovative use of flavors and ingredients in Burke's food ensures that this will not be your typical deli fare—sandwiches such as the Go FIGure! artfully blend a conglomeration of fig and goat cheese for a gourmet experience; the TOMATO & MOZZ FUHGETTABOUTIT! sandwich provides a fresh combination of mozzarella cheese, tomato, and pesto; and the Beet It! sandwich offers the right combination of beets and mandarin oranges. The Beet & Goat Cheese Salad was a particular favorite, as well, mixing greens with walnuts and craisins topped with mandarin oranges, goat cheese, and beets.

And, of course, the evening ended with a sampling of the famous Taste-size Crumbs cupcakes, the mini sizes proving just the right amount to satiate a sweet tooth without any of the added guilt (unless you eat four of them like this girl did...).

Perfectly combining fresh, gourmet food with the comforting familiarity of baked goods, the union between Crumbs and David Burke is sure to not only be a hit but also an instant staple in the City, providing the perfect stop for a family picnic on-the-go or a quick and easy weeknight dinner.
