Storer has a varied background that led him to the current position at Dickey’s. A trained classical musician, he began his career in managing and motivating people from the conductor’s podium. Surprisingly, there are a lot of correlations between leading orchestral rehearsals and managing culture for a national franchise brand.  “In both positions, I take the written concept, motivate others to want to learn, train them on the specifics, and ensure they are successful,” says Storer.

Storer has made a difference in the Dickey’s corporate culture by creating training models for high – potential employees. He created Dickey’s Management Institute, which has grown into a year-long, five-course program in which corporate employees can hone their leadership and management skills and prepare to advance within the company. Storer also leads culture efforts in the restaurants by instilling core values in employees, creating succession planning from Pit Crew to Pit Master to Pit Boss, and working across departments like HR, Training, Operations, and IT to improve guest-facing cultural elements. “When you visit us, you will feel the difference,” Storer exclaims. “We have crazy happy energy, our delicious food is slow-smoked, served fast, and we only serve the world’s best barbecue. Anything less is not a culture we will accept!”
