The 1 Mug Cake Recipe That You Truly Need To Have In Your Life Right Now

There's really nothing easier than dumping a few ingredients into a mug, mixing them together, and then popping the whole thing in to the microwave for 60 seconds — so, on those days when you just really need to have some cake, make a mug cake. Just when you thought mug cake couldn't get any better, enter the one mug cake recipe that is super easy to customize; you can make this recipe with any nut, seed, or cookie butter and it's guaranteed to be satisfying and delicious.

Start by melting 1 tablespoon of butter in a large mug. Then, add a heaping spoonful of your favorite nut, seed, or cookie butter; peanut butter, Nutella, and speculoos spread all work well. Mix until fully combined.

Next, add 3 tablespoons of flour, a big pinch of baking powder, a little pinch of fine salt, and 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar. Stir until combined.

Crack one egg into the mug and mix until fully combined (nobody wants scrambled eggs in their cake).

Then, microwave the cake on high power for 60 seconds, until the top is just set. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before digging in.
