The Commons Brewery has build a respectable business through self-distributing their beers in Oregon and in early 2014 signed on with Morgan Distributing in an ill-fated move owner Mike Wright wrote about recently. Luckily the Morgan relationship ended cleanly and has made room for The Commons to sign on with Maletis Beverage in Oregon and Southwest Washington in a move that will certainly increase their presence in bars and grocery stores.
“I’m very proud of the distribution foundation we have been able to develop over the last few years. As our distribution footprint, and customer base grows, so do the logistical challenges. We’re thankful for all the support our retailers and customers have provided and we’re excited to partner with Maletis.”, noted Mike Wright, Founder of The Commons Brewery.
“Maletis Beverage is excited to represent The Commons Brewery. Mike and his team have built an incredible following for their world class beers among the craft community of retailers and consumers. The opportunity to partner with such a respected brewery and help grow The Commons brand is something our entire organization looks forward to” said Rob Maletis, Owner of Maletis Beverage.
The Commons Brewery is in the process of adding a 15bbl brew house and moving into a newly renovated 10,000 sq. ft. building at SE 7th and Belmont St. in Portland.
The brewery started in Mike Wright’s garage in 2010 on a 30 gallon system as Beetje Brewery, which roughly translates to “little bit”. A year later the brewery was renamed to The Commons Brewery and began operating in small commercial space in Southeast Portland. The Commons recently celebrated their 3rd anniversary.
The Commons Brewery crafts small batch approachable and balanced European-inspired beers. The tasting room is located at: 1810 SE 10th Ave., Unit E (entrance on SE Stephens between 10th & 11th). The Commons tasting room hours are: Thursday, Friday 5-9pm, Saturday 2-9pm, Sunday 2-6pm.
Maletis Beverage is a fourth generation, family owned and operated beverage distributorship servicing the greater Portland and Southwest Washington area. The company was recently honored with the Craft Beer Distributor Recognition Award by the Brewers Association, which recognizes beer distributors that go above and beyond to market, promote and sell craft beer. Founded in 1935, Maletis Beverage is proudly celebrating its 80th anniversary.
