A cheesecake, by definition, is a dessert comprised of cream cheese, sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract, all mixed together and poured over a graham cracker crust. The cake is then baked for around 45 minutes and left to set until completely cooled and then refrigerated. Many people like to enjoy their cheesecake with a sweet fruit topping like strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries.
This dessert also happens to have a fairly interesting history. And sorry New Yorkers, you may have perfected the cheesecake, but you certainly aren’t responsible for it. In fact, many Greek historians believe that a form of cheesecake was served to athletes during the first Olympics, though actual cream cheese wasn’t invented until 1872.
But just because it is an old-world dessert, doesn’t mean that it can’t use a little upgrade. These tasty treats are cheesecakes with a twist that you will never forget.
