'Blue Hawaii' Elvis Mosaic Made From Coffee Cups Earns Guinness World Record

What better way to advertise a coffee event than by creating art made from coffee? Staffers at DSF Galleria Hawaii , a luxury retailer, made a mosaic of Elvis Presley from 5,642 cups of coffee — making it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest coffee cup mosaic.

The staffers made the 16-by-25-foot portrait of Presley with a digital printout, reports Hawaii Magazine. (Appropriately, the portrait they went off was a picture from Presley's "Blue Hawaii" days.) The store made the mosaic to promote the Art of Hawaiian Coffee event next week, which celebrates the best of Hawaiian coffee growers. (Hawaii is the only state in the U.S. that grows coffee.)

The Elvis coffee art beat out the previous Guinness record holder, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority for The Rocks Aroma Festival, whose Mona Lisa depiction used 3,604 cups of coffee. All we want to know is, how much coffee was spilled during such an elaborate craft?
