The ominous sounding Black Water will be Portland's first Metal themed Vegetarian Brewery and is coming soon to NE Hollywood. The brewpub is an off-shoot project of Black Water Records, owner Keith Testerman and homebrewers Devin Shollenberger and Alex Carroccio

To be located at 835 NE Broadway in a building that has been the home of a series of  Vietnamese restaurants, Black Water Brewing will be a burger and fries kind of joint only it will be vegetarian and vegetarian only. They won't be able to fit a large brewery into this 3,662 sq. ft. space, only about 1,000 of those for the brewery, but are looking at a 3.5 barrel system that might barely eek out enough beer for the pub.

Cole Robinson, a local Che who has designed vegetarian food menus for the likes of The White Owl Social Club will be behind the grill. Behind the bar will be pretty standard ales like Pales, Reds, IPA's and Stouts not to mention a full liquor bar.

Portland already has a vegan strip club yet somehow this will be our first vegetarian brewery and first metal themed as we attempt to catch up to Denver, Colorado's two(!) metal themed breweries.

Expect Black Water Brewing to be open around the end of November but probably not with their own housemade beer yet.
