“I love to serve this famous Sunday morning libation in Ball jars — although I serve this with summer luncheons of crab salad, deviled eggs and slices of crispy bread because it’s the perfect complementing drink with this menu! People not only love the idea of repurposing the jar, they love the addition of harmonizing avocado and crispy bacon. Add some snow pea shoots for a little bit of artistry and a refreshing replacement for traditional celery. If you’re serving it like I do, use your favorite tomato juice or make a bloody mary mixture and add the accompaniments.” — Kerry Dunnington, author of This Book Cooks

Sweet Potato Coconut Curry
This simple curry dish comes together quickly and has a big payoff when it comes to flavor and presentation. Curry powder packs a punch in the spice department and it’s a weapon to  keep on hard for a weeknight dinner when you want to throw together a dish  that varies from your regular  routine. This recipe has just the right balance of sweet and heat, and the sweet potatoes add so much flavor and text that you don’t notice the lack of any meat. (Just ask my husband!) – Kelsey Nixon

Roasted Asparagus Salad with Ginger-Citrus Vinaigrette
Every year, I look forward to asparagus season more than words can express. But, this year something really special happened: I’ve actually planted my own asparagus bed! I ordered asparagus crowns (roots), which look like octopuses with skinny legs, and dubiously planted them in a raised bed, following the instructions to the letter. I wasn’t sure that they would come up, but not two weeks later, my baby asparagus are popping out of the ground with gusto. And even though I won’t be able to harvest from my asparagus patch for two years, when I see those frisky stems emerging from their bed the wait seems well worth it. In the meantime, I’ll get my fresh spears from one of our local farmers markets and make today’s exotic and massively flavorful salad as many times as I can before the season has passed.
