Vanilla Sugar Doughnuts
Do whatever you have to do to convince yourself to make these doughnuts from Joy Wilson’s cookbook, Homemade Decadence. Maybe you have to convince yourself that you have the time. Maybe you have to talk yourself into working with yeast. Maybe you have to coach yourself through working with a pan of hot oil. Pep-talk yourself right into doughnut making, because the end result — the part where you get to eat a warm, sugar-coated doughnut fresh from the fryer — makes the doughnut-making journey worth it 10 times over. holes
These are super for when neighbors come by to watch football. No plates or forks required. If quizzed about what they are, just say offhandedly, “Oh, plain old doughnut holes.” Then watch their faces light up as they take their first bite and the fudgy brownie flavor fills their mouths. Guaranteed high fives all around. Because the brownie filling is egg-free, it need not be baked!Recipe excerpted from Sheila G’s Butter & Chocolate: 101 Creative Sweets and Treats Using Brownie Batter by Sheila G. Mains, creator of Brownie Brittle. Click here to purchase your own copy.

These artisan baked doughnuts are from Little T Baker's Tim Healea in Portland, Oregon. Not only is a fryer unnecessary to create delicious, homemade doughnuts, but Healea also has a few simple tricks up his sleeve that make them even better. Brushing with butter before and after baking is just one example!

Happy National Doughnut Day! After I baked my Raspberry Vanilla Doughnuts, I got hooked on baking doughnuts. This is very dangerous. I've been wanting to use RumChata for a while, and since RumChata is the magical combination of horchata and rum, I figured it would work beautifully with chocolate and banana flavors. And because I hate to see a naked doughnut, I sprinkled the tops with coconut shavings. Let me tell you, it did. I'm sure you'll have just as much fun as I did making these doughnuts. Since these are a cinch to make, you have plenty of time to bake these for National Doughnut Day! What are you waiting for?

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Minis

Have doughnut holes prepared at a moment’s notice with help from premade pizza dough. Blogger Paula Jones from Bell'alimento tosses hers in cinnamon sugar, but you can drizzle them with some icing and sprinkles as well. Click Here to See More Doughnut Hole Recipes

Cookbook Cover
This is a very easy preparation for what I find to be an addictive pleasure. A quickly made dough called pâte à choux — the dough used to make cream puffs — is loaded with diced apple, fried, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. The doughnuts make a wickedly good start to the day and also a surprisingly easy and impressive passed dessert after dinner.

This copycat recipe will keep your doughnut demons at bay while you argue the perennial doughnut debate — Dunkin’ Doughnuts or Krispy Kreme (sorry, Dunkie’s loyalists). For the recipe, we went to the source — New Orleans — and found that Krispy Kreme doughnuts might have more to do with beignets then their shape suggest.
