Whether you use canned or fresh artichokes (which are in season), this is an easy crowd-pleaser for the fall because it tastes best served warm. You can pair this dip with either a freshly toasted baguette or crudités. Some artichoke dip recipes call for a much heavier combination of sour cream, mayonnaise, and cheese, but we’ve made a lighter version that focuses on the fresh artichoke flavor.

This dish is ideal for any Super Bowl party as it’s very versatile. It can be served either hot or cold, making it my go-to dish to bring whenever gathering with friends. The trick is that I use fresh crab, which makes a big difference in the taste.

There are some unusual additions in this dip, but it's relatively low-fat, low-carb, full of vegetables (a whole bag of greens!), and it's honestly delicious.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip
For the past few years, my friends and I have been monthly regulars at the steakhouse chain Hillstone (formerly known as Houston’s), where we catch up and order only three things from the menu, one being the warm spinach and artichoke dip. Once you have one bite, there's no stopping. Needing a dip fix, I was inspired by the restaurant's spinach dip and started to play around with ingredients, forgoing cream cheese for a béchamel from scratch, adding a kick of cayenne, a bit of lemon for brightness, and lots of spinach and artichokes. While it’s not quite the same as the restaurant’s, it’s pretty darn close and works for me. Click here to see Recipe SWAT Team: Dips.

Fresh and Healthy Artichoke Dip
I'm not sure when artichokes became the go-to item to put in fatty, cream-filled dips, but I believe they've gotten a bad rap. The reason artichokes became the signature item to put with creamy bases and tangy cheese is because they have a mild but delicious flavor and an easy texture for integrating into a dip. However, it doesn't have to be canned hearts and globs of mayonnaise. On the contrary, this recipe allows for fresh artichoke to meld with Greek yogurt in a light, refreshing dip that will disappear from the plate minutes after serving.Click here to see 9 Amazing Artichoke Recipes.
