Whip Hand Cosmetics emerged onto the beauty scene in a major way. This Detroit-based line of cosmetics and beauty products was founded by Riese Lauriat. Her exclusive make-up line was created with clients in mind and are made using premium ingredients. The line features make-up manufactured by start-ups based in Michigan and the U.S. The Whip Hand Cosmetics line is comprised of whatever you need to create a picture-perfect face: eyeshadow, lip cremes, blush and foundation. Cindi Naturals is a line of nail polish founded by manicurist Cindi Lieder. The Clarkston-based company features a collection of nail polish formulated using organic compounds, and does not contain any harmful ingredients. Products include base polishes and top coats, and are available in a stunning array of colors. In a nod to her Michigan roots, Lieder chose names for the polish that were inspired by the state. Metro Detroit-based Tru Cosmetics features a complete line of professional make-up that gives individuals the chance to get in on the secret to flawless beauty. Based in New Hudson, with new digs in Detroit’s Tech Town – as part of an Automation Alley accelerator program – IMA Cosmetics is taking the world by storm. Founded by Julie Bartholomew, her approach to cosmetics was innovative: she worked with engineers to develop a machine that produces customized make-up for shoppers at high-end department stores, including Fred Segal, Nordstrom and Barneys. Pairing science with beauty allows customers to customize their own make-up, including specialized colors, flavors and finishes. Twenty stores are expected to carry the cosmetic line in 2015, so stay on the look-out for the cutting-edge product line at a shop near you.
