HQ4Baseball is the acronym for Headquarters for baseball and softball. This spot organized the Carolina Challenge Baseball League for local groups to compete in tournament play. Training is provided with DVDs that even the youngest players ("Little Sluggers" – 4 to 7 years old) and youth coaches can understand. Training camps are offered in the winter to keep sharp. Lessons for individuals, small groups and the baseball travel team program cover all of the bases, whatever the skill set or age. A small clinic can be arranged to your specifications to work on special skills. Take the I-85 Billy Graham exit 33 and turn left. Take the Tyvola Road ramp towards the Coliseum. Keep right, merging onto West Tyvola Road. Take the first right onto Yorkmont Road, first left onto Beam Road and the second left onto Crossbeam Drive.

The 10,000-square-foot space with three pitching machines is available for serious baseball and softball training or birthday party rentals. It is advisable to call ahead to be sure a private event will not conflict with your trip. It's a 30-minute drive on I-77 from Charlotte. Take exit 36 and go east on Highway 150, also known as East Plaza Drive to the red brick building just past the Burger King.
