A cast of puppets sounds like a child's fantasy come true, but the "Avenue Q" cast of puppets is anything but. Politically incorrect lyrics, raunchy dialogue and hilarious roasting of children's television has awarded this groundbreaking spectacle three Tony awards. Officially off-Broadway, director Bria Walker brings this Broadway sensation to Pitt's stage for Pittsburgh theatergoers' entertainment. Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, soundtrack geniuses behind "Frozen" and "Book of Mormon," will delight patrons with "If You Were Gay" and "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist."

Weston struggles with alcoholism and debt while his wife, Ella, dreams of escape. Meanwhile the couple's children, Wesley and Emma, make plans of their own.

"Love Letters"
University of Pittsburgh
Henry Heymann Theater
4301 Forbes Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15213
(412) 624-7529
www.play.pitt.edu

Dates: Nov. 7 – 9, 2014

Richard McMillan, a keystone member of the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival, and Ann Louise carry out "Love Letters," the exchanges between friends Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace who went through adolescence together, and later grew apart, but continued to share confidences. The actors read the notes, letters and cards – which span over nearly 50 years and discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats – that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. As the letters are read aloud, we come to know their characters as evocative, touching, frequently funny individuals – though what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.
