Foursquare Tips

  • Come for the great, historic feel!
  • Green Door Chile with lots of hot sauce washed down with a tall hum & soda will cure the common cold.
  • I don't know first hand but I hear the urinals are extremely tall. Best used by those 5' 9" or taller.
  • Yeah, it's ok.
  • $2 Wing Baskets on Sundays!
  • Massive portions (I'm British). Try the pork chop. It's huge.
  • Grab a beer and wonder how those leaning walls given way yet.
  • Give Julius (aka juicy j) a hug when you walk in the door. He's the most lovable doorman!
  • Take your jacket off before you hit the pisser! Heaters on blast!
  • Check out the Green Door Tavern's history in this short video http://www.drunkenhistory.com/green-door-tavern-chicago
  • Stop in and try what is arguably the best Corned Beef Sandwich known to man. Wash it down with a Moscow Mule or our personal favorite the French 75, which was named after the 75mm howitzer!!!
  • Bathrooms are downstairs.
  • Play pool in the back.
  • Great food and drinks
  • Portobello fries = yum.
  • Dive bars are sorely lacking in my life.
  • The drink I had was ok, nothing spectacular, and I felt bad for the one waitress who seemed to be doing all the work. The history of the building is really cool.
  • It's like walking back in time. So amazing.
  • We stumbled in accidentally but it was still a good time. I would definitely go back.
  • One of the oldest bars in Chicago!! Great Brussel sprouts and buffalo chicken sandwich. Speakeasy in the basement
