Apples are one of the best fruits to eat when trying to lose weight because they contain pectin which speeds up the digestive process, and cinnamon contains natural thermogenic properties to help burn calories quickly. Together, they can't be beat!

  • 1/2  gallon water
  • cinnamon sticks
  • whole apples, thinly sliced


Place apple slices and cinnamon in the bottom of a tall pitcher, then cover partway with ice. Fill with water and allow flavors to marry in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before drinking. If you want more apple flavor, you can put the apples through a whole juice juicer (which keeps the pulp and fiber intact), and blend into the water. If you want an extra boost, add a squeeze of lemon.

When buying apples, they should be firm, free of bruises, and heavy for their size.

Don’t throw out your overripe fruit – instead blend into a smoothie or salad dressing, add to muffin batter, bake into a cobbler, or boil down with sugar and a little lemon juice to make jam.
