America's Best B&Bs For Sweet Breakfasts

For the third year in a row, BedandBreakfast.com hosted its Best B&B Breakfast Tournament, called the "Sweets to Beat" contest, in March and April to find the best B&B breakfast. This year, the contest focused on sweet breakfasts only.

The winner of the 2014 "Sweets to Beat" contest by BedandBreakfast.com is the sweet stuffed crêpe cigars at the Open Gates Bed & Breakfast in Darien, Ga., which took home the top honors for the best B&B in North America. The caramel apple bacon French toast from Farmers Guest House in Galena, Ill. came in as a close second.

As in years past, the BedandBreakfast.com's Best B&B Breakfast Tournament contest worked in brackets (think NCAA Basketball's March Madness) with BedandBreakfast.com's Facebook fans voted for their favorites.

This year, breakfast dishes with fruit were fan favorites, with nearly all of the final eight finalists featuring blueberries, strawberries, or bananas in their breakfast dishes.

The top 16 finalists for the "Sweets to Beat" contest were chosen based on recipe creativity, uniqueness, and appeal by guest judges like Anne Banas of SmarterTravel.com; Genevieve Shaw Brown of ABC News; Adrien Glover of Travel + Leisure; and Larry Olmsted, USAToday.com's Great American Bites columnist.
