2 Towns Ciderhouse releases Serious Scrump Imperial English Cider has recently been released and is a fine example of a full flavored full bodied cider that is both strong at 11% but also surprisingly dry. The rich character and serious alcohol quotient make it a great late winter addition to your beer or cider fridge.
The Scrump is a dry cider crafted in a bold Northwest fashion. This cider is made with an eclectic blend of apples, which are pressed into juice that is then frozen, and then slowly thawed, resulting in a thick aromatic juice. This is then cold fermented with traditional English cider yeast, yielding a cider that is incredibly rich and deep in character. A welcome guest to celebrations—wild or tame—Serious Scrump is a great accompaniment to a rip roaring fire, or high intensity football game, the Serious Scrump embraces winter with its warmth and festive taste.
“Serious Scrump is our take on the classic English scrumpy style cider—with a bit of Northwest flare,” said Dave Takush, Head Cidermaker at 2 Towns Ciderhouse. “This cider is essentially an ice cider—a process that uses juice that has been frozen and then slowly thawed—leaving ice behind and releasing thick, aromatic juice that is naturally concentrated in sugar content and flavor.”
As always, 2 Towns Ciderhouse uses fresh-pressed 100% Northwest Apples, no added sugars, and never uses artificial essences or flavorings. Instead, the Ciderhouse allows the fruit to speak for itself. Serious Scrump is now available in the 2 Towns Tap Room and will be available to to distributors on December 30th in bottles, and 1/6 bbls and 1/2 bbl kegs. This seasonal cider will be available throughout Oregon, Washington and California.
