When it comes to feeding their pets, many owners are willing to go the extra mile to get the best for their companions, from purchasing ultra-expensive organic kibbles to buying up freshly prepared meals in the refrigerated section that never touch a can. And while it certainly makes sense for pet owners to want the highest-quality foods for their animals, some products are just plain bizarre.

12 Outrageous Pet Foods

Fancy Feast is a brand that’s made its fortune by marketing high-brow cat foods, with commercials featuring sophisticated-looking kitties often dining on crystal tableware. And of course, what kind of elegant creature wouldn’t love to feast on Wild Salmon and Egg Soufflé with Garden Greens… from a can? Or perhaps they would prefer White Meat Chicken Florentine with Garden Greens in a Delicate Sauce.

Man’s best friend has some pretty wacky products available to them as well, from special cupcakes available at Sprinkles Cupcakes to french fries and cannoli treats from Annie’s Pooch Pops. Purina also offers a cool frozen dessert for dogs, Frosty Paws Cool Treats, available in peanut butter and original flavors.

Business's are not dumb, they go where they think a new market is at. Buying designer pet food is ridiculous, but there are lots of folks that seem to think a pet is a child so plenty of wackos for all occasions. People in the United States spend approximately 60 billion a year on pet related products.
We have 29,000 children dying a day in the world per Unicef from disease and starvation, yet pets seem to be more important. It is a sad commentary on society.

Over 7 decades I have had a number of cats and dogs. They all lived to a fine old age dining on the usual Purina or Iams or other ordinary pet food. The exception was a gentle and lovable but stupid border collie who insisted on chasing cars until one did him in. Other than that I seen no point in buying these absurd and obscenely priced diets. Start them on things like Alpo and they will eagerly await the next meal as if it were filet mignon. Some of the items here makes me almost want to lose my own lunch. What's next for the loons that buy these? Whale treats? Blue Fin Tuna with savory sauce? Lobster sauteed in Extra Virgin olive oil with garlic and saffron?
