Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc 1999

The warm and dry 1999 Marlborough summer produced excellent ripening conditions, with high daytime temperatures speeding the ripening process and typically cool nights maintaining full fruit flavours. These have resulted in a beautifully ripe and intensely fruity sauvignon blanc. The wine underwent a long, slow fermentation with light fining achieving clarity and a long smooth palate. The overall objective was to produce a sauvignon blanc that retains intensity and freshness of fruit and sustains maximum aromatic characters typical of Stoneleigh Vineyard. The resultant wine displays a fragrant bouquet of passionfruit and dry grass aromas. It has a full soft mouth weight with good texture, offering a palate of rich ripe passionfruit and clean crisp apple flavours with a lingering finish.
