Have you heard that wine o'clock, the appropriate time of day to start drinking wine, has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary? That's cause for celebration, so I've decided to make Wine O'clock with Wanda a regular feature to showcase delicious and affordable wines under $20. After all, a wine o'clock sip should be wonderful without breaking the bank.
Trivento Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 ($11) is a perfect wine o'clock vino. This expressive and elegant wine from Argentina is affordable, approachable, and full of flavor. Of course, Malbec reigns supreme in Argentina but Cabernet Sauvignon grapes also grow in beautiful abundance and Trivento captures the personality of this bold grape. Trivento Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 is a powerful but silky red wine with luscious berry & plum flavors with hints of herb and soft tannins. Give the wine a few minutes to open up in the glass after pouring and those lovely aromas and flavors will really shine through. I'm going to pair my Trivento with a medium-rare steak but this versatile wine would also be great with spicy tomato sauces, pasta, burgers, pizza, and ribs. Happy Wine O'clock, darlings!
