On Thursday, November 13, Food Tank will host an exclusive webinar featuring Nabeeha Kazi, President and CEO of Humanitas Global, and Chair, Community for Zero Hunger (CZH). The Webinar will highlight the CZH and its role in meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and will be held from 1pm EST to 2pm EST.
In June 2012 the U.N. gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to propose the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): a new set of explicit environmental, health, and social development targets for the international community to work towards. During this conference U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon launched the Zero Hunger Challenge to ignite people from around the world to address the pressing issues of food insecurity and malnutrition. Meeting the Challenge requires zero stunted children under two years old, total access to adequate food year round, sustainable food systems, doubled smallholder productivity, and zero food waste.
The CZH is an independent initiative that facilitates large-scale community collaboration in order to support the Zero Hunger Challenge. In the webinar, Kazi will explain how CZH is helping to fight global hunger, and discuss some of the challenges to meeting the Zero Hunger Initiative’s ambitious targets.
Kazi is an accomplished food security and public health professional that has worked with the World Health Organization, the Clinton Foundation, and various governments and multi-national corporations. Originally from Pakistan, she was raised in Mexico and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the United States. In 2009 she joined the international development agency Humanitas Global, where she currently serves as Chair, President, and CEO. She is now on the advisory board with CZH and working to address the targets of the U.N.’s Zero Hunger Challenge.
The webinar will include a 30 to 40 minute presentation by Kazi, and then 15 to 20 minutes for questions. Interested participants can register here.
