From foodtank.com, by Emma Shorr

On March 7, 2015, TEDxManhattan “Changing the Way We Eat” will take place in New York. The goal of TEDxManhattan is to educate others about problems within the food system. The entire event will be broadcast live to provide access to viewers around the world. TEDxManhattan is encouraging people to host or attend viewing parties of the event as an “opportunity to rally your community and start conversations on sustainability, applying the talks to your local food system.”

There are three ways to watch TEDxManhattan. You can register and host your own viewing party HERE. Find an existing viewing party near you via this map, and request to join one HERE. Otherwise, watch the live webcast on your own.

The event will include many speakers who are working to change the food system for the better, including Food Tank’s president, Danielle Nierenberg. Other speakers include: Joel Berg, NYC Coalition Against Hunger; Dr. Robert Graham, Lenox Hill Hospital; Henry Hargreaves, photographer; Kendra Kimbirauskas, Socially Responsible Agricultural Project/Goat Mountain Pastured Meats; Nikiko Masumoto, Masumoto Family Farm; Michele Merkel, Food & Water Watch; Danny Meyer, Union Square Hospitality Group; Ali Partovi; Silicon Valley investor; Stefanie Sacks, “Stirring the Pot,”; Anim Steel, Real Food Challenge; Marcel Van Ooyen, GrowNYC; and Ietef “DJ Cavem” Vita, International Recording Art. All of the viewing parties are free of charge, and are a great way to start a conversation about how to change your local, regional, and national food system.
