Vancouver's Powell Street Festival Starts On August 3

The 37th Annual Powell Street Festival will welcome locals and visitors from August 3rd to 4th. This festival, hosted by the non-profit organization Powell Street Festival Society, will feature Japanese-Canadian art, culture, and heritage. This, of course, means that there will be lots of Japanese food to try.

For this year's festival, the theme is "Champion," and the event will feature artists who create their work as a result of various challenges, festival general manager Kristen Lambertson told Vancouver's Straight. Food enthusiasts can definitely eat like a champion, and taste foods such as sake-flavored ice cream, yakisoba, pork miso katsu sandwich, and chicken karaage. For dessert, try the matcha and white chocolate macarons or the orange chocolate madeleines from Kawaii Eats.

The event will take place at Oppenheimer Park at 400 Powell Street. Enjoy dance, music, literary, martial arts demos, and theatre performances as you work your way through all the food booths.
