Valleys In Ladakh: An Awe-Inspiring Expedition

Ladakh, located between the Nun – Kun mountain ranges and The Great Himalayas, is an embodiment of the Tibetan culture. It is the highest plateau of Jammu and Kashmir state, and has so much to offer right from scenic mountain peaks, clandestine rock carvings to rich cultural inheritance. Nubra Valley : Nubra Valley, surrounded by the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas, is sandwiched between Kashmir and Tibet. It is famous for its monasteries, orchards, Bactrian Camels and picturesque landscapes. It is located around 150km from Leh and known as the Orchard of Ladakh. In winter, Nubra looks likes the scenery of the moon and that's why it is also famous as the Moon land. During summer, the area becomes lush green that captivates the attention of the visitors.

Other than the scenic natural beauty, Nubra boasts of numerous centers of Buddhist learning as well. Samstanling, Ensa, Hunder and Diskit are well known Buddhist monasteries. Nubra is a main trade center for woolen textiles made of horticultural crops and Pashmina wool.

Sham Valley : Sham Valley located in lower Ladakh; consists of beautiful panoramas, monasteries and villages. Unlike the other parts of Ladakh, the trek along the Sham is soft and the highest elevation doesn't rise above 4100 mts. It is also named as an Apricot Valley, due to the presence of apricot orchards in a large quantity. The trek starts from Sneymo village and ends at Lamayuru. Trekking in Sham is a perfect opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the Ladakh monasteries.

Indus valley : Indus Valley is situated within the radius of 15-70 kms of Leh, at an altitude of 3500-3600mts above the sea level. It has Zanskar in its South-West and Changthang Nomadic Highland in the East as well as Nubra in the North and Sham and Aryan Valley on its West. It is the widest trekking area in Ladakh and river Indus meanders all through the region. This canyon is one of the most enchanting  regions in Ladakh and it is  famous for its pulsating beauty. Indus river makes this place a paradise for the amateur rafters.

Zanskar Valley : Zanskar Valley is considered as one of the most adventurous and intriguing tourist destinations. It is located in the South-East of Kargil and South-West of Leh. The scenery includes different shapes and colors of the boulders, rocks and mountains. A tourist can enjoy the cool breeze of this exotic region. Its green pastures and crystal-clear streams are very eye-catching, especially for the nature lovers. Markha Valley : Markha is located close to the Leh region. The trek of Markha Valley Ladakh is one of the most renowned treks in India.
